Schaner Adult Center

East Pennsboro Township operates its own center for the benefit of senior adults throughout our community. The Schaner Adult Center is located on the ground floor of the township’s community building. The center offers a range of activities for older adults, wellness program, educational activities an a health lunch program on a daily basis. Schaner Adult Center offers a friendly portal to the expansive aging network. It is a comfortable place for older adults to meet and focus on healthy living and participate in stimulating activities. The Schaner Adult Center reflects the community and local interests. We’ve enjoyed a longtime relationship with our sponsor, East Pennsboro Township, and they continue to be generous and supportive of our programs and initiatives. We are very appreciative of their guidance and affirmation. The center has individualized its programs to meet the desires of our population. Our center activitiy structure allows participants to make choices, plan their own schedule and do the things that they enjoy – in short, to get on with the business of life. We offer many ways for people to use the skills they have learned throughout their lives. Volunteers are not a “frill” at our center. they are a fundamental part of our basic structure. We need them and appreciate them! Our center activities offer senior adults opportunities to socialize with peers, stay active, learn new things and revisit past pleasures. There is room for solo pursuits and group participation. Seniorbingo300Seniorexercise300

Volunteers are needed

Volunteers are needed to pickup and deliver nutritious home cooked meals to homebound seniors residing in the East Pennsboro area. Two meals, one hot and one cold are delivered three times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Meals are $7.00 per day. Some of your neighbors are in dire need of this assistance. In order to provide this service in the Enola area, volunteers are desperately needed. A driver and helper would pickup meals and deliver them to clients in the Enola area. Deliveries are usually completed by 12:30pm. Meals on Wheels is searching for volunteers to keep this worthwhile program going. Could you spare a couple of hours each week or part of a day once a month to provide this much needed service to your homebound neighbors who are in need? A coordinator for the East Pennsboro area as well as drivers are needed. Please consider this worthy cause. You can contact the Mechanicsburg Area Meals on Wheels, Inc. directly at 697-5011 or the Schaner Adult Center at 732-3915.
